Summer Opportunities

Summer College Programs

Summer opportunities are a great way for high school students to gain experience and insight about college early on. These opportunities allow them to explore their interests, develop skills, experience a college campus and curriculum. Some programs will even allow them to earn college credit.  They are great experiences and can be great additions to students applications later on as well.

Each program will vary in duration, area of focus, and cost so it's important to do your research. While some programs may have associated fees, there are often scholarships available for some applicants. Governor's Schools and Upward Bound are federally funded programs that also offer free or inexpensive experiences for students.

Here is a list of some summer programs available for 2018. While some may have an associated cost, there are often scholarships available for applicants.

Work Experience and Interning

Remember that summer jobs, interning, and volunteering can also be valuable experiences as well. All of these experiences allow students to gain new skills and insights.
