Freshman/Sophomore Year

It’s never too early to start on the college search process. As a Freshman and Sophomore you can do that following things to help start your post-secondary plans.

  •  Start looking into potential careers
    • Use CareerCruising! - Ask your counselor or college advisor for your log in if you do not have it.
  • Plan out your high school classes:
    • Think about taking Honors/AP classes
    • How many years of a language do you need?
    • What types of courses will be helpful for the career you want?
  • Remember that colleges will look at your cumulative GPA. They look at grades 9-12 so that means that your grades in 9th and 10th grade matter!
  • Start visiting a few colleges to see what type of school you may want to be looking for.
  • Consider taking the PSAT10
  • Start taking advantage of summer college/job shadowing opportunities after Freshman year.
  • Start saving money!
