Materials Processing 2

Materials Processing II explores the areas of woodworking and manufacturing techniques more deeply. Students will learn how to use intermediate level tools to process lumber into a finished, intermediate-level product. These projects will require students to independently read plans, layout pieces to plan specification, and then use a variety of tools to cut and shape these pieces. More advanced joinery and woodworking techniques will be introduced in projects through the use of fixtures and mass production techniques. This is a hands on class that focuses on students working with tools and machines during lab time. Safety and quality of work is a must to succeed in the class. All students will complete a written assessment on safety and tools. All student work will be assessed using a common rubric that will be presented at the beginning of the course. This class requires students to provide a $15 lab fee to cover the cost of materials. Students will be responsible for the cost of any additional projects, or if they choose to use more expensive materials.
