Advanced Placement Chemistry follows the curriculum set by College Board® to be designated as an AP course.  Students taking this course will be prepared and expected to take the AP exam in May and is equivalent to an introductory college course.  AP Chemistry is intended for students interested in advanced study in science.  Topics include thermochemistry, solution chemistry, molecular chemistry, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium (including acid-base equilibria) electrochemistry, nuclear chemistry, and introduction to organic chemistry.  Students should expect extensive work outside of class and labs that emphasize experimental procedures, calculations, and interpretation of results.  Evaluation activities include, but are not limited to tests, quizzes, lab reports, lab results, written homework, and a final exam.  The purchase of a scientific calculator is recommended. Completion of a summer assignment is expected.
