Mrs. Laura Richardson

My name is Laura Richardson, the Autism Support classroom teacher here at WASHS.  It is an honor to teach our students and I look forward to getting to know each family!  I have several
para professionals who work in our classroom as well to best serve our students.

We use an ABA program to meet the needs of our students here in our classroom and are very excited about their progress!

We meet our students at the bus or van at the start of the day, come in and unpack our backpacks, put items in their lockers, use the bathrooms, play and some have breakfast in our room.

After the announcements and the pledge, we get into our groups for "cold probes" - a daily assessment that drives the ABA program and helps see when students master new skills after 3 knowing it 3 days in a row.  We teach throughout the rest of the day in our intensive teaching times (ITT's) and have manding sessions (where students learn to ask or request items they are motivated to play with or interact with.  Another bathroom break rounds out our morning and electives (music, art, gym or library) rounds out our morning.

Lots of fun and hard work occurs all day in our room and we love the time we have with our students!
